A few days back I saw this ad for Samsung S IV, it was about a particular feature that the new phone has – they call it Sound and Shot. The feature is simple yet extremely powerful. It allows one to record a short sound clip while taking a picture. Different occasions and people will use this in different ways. I believe it is a great addition to the picture taking capability of the device.
Somewhere in June 2009, I had thought about a similar approach to digital cameras, including mobile phone. I even wrote an email to some close friends about the same and wanted to patent the ideas as well :-). Anyways, was busy with some other stuff I was building and this did not fly.
My idea at that time was to enable a device to capture an audio clip and then use voice to text technology (which was not very advanced at that time) and convert that audio clip into plain text. This would help with additional tags per picture. Using these tags one could organize the pictures in a much better way with more occasion aware data that ordinarily cameras can’t capture.
I still believe in the 2009 concept and Samsung should take this a few notches up and use the voice data to add more details to static pictures.
Happy clicking . . .
